SHADOWS
A NEW PRESENTATION OF WORKS
FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION
27th November 2007 - 9th May 2008
Just as glass is a unique material for catching and reflecting the light, it can project shadows and hide multiple layers behind the surface. In Glasmuseet Ebeltoft’s new exhibition of works from the permanent collection, the museum has chosen a number of exciting and highly different works with one thing in common: On one hand or another they meet the dubious title ”Shadows”.
One of these works is Lisabeth Sterling’s (USA) ”Where there’s smoke” (2003), a sculpture in blown glass with cuttings and engravings through the different layers of colour, which add charakteristic shadows to the sculpture and bring it’s figures to life. Also the Australian artist Ede Horton’s two blanck and white, cast glass objects ”Hero” (2003), Hiroshi Mitsushi’s ”Form Composed of Four Blue Elements” (1995) and Kazuko Eguchi’s charming hat made of glass ”Wind” (1980) each in their way illustrate the word ”Shadows”.
