The StudyThe Study

THE STUDY concept was launched in 2008. It is a space made available for smaller, experimental exhibition projects, which are not necessarily part of the museum's planned exhibition schedule and often taken in at short notice. It is a space for younger artists, who can use it as a platform to establish themselves, but also gives well-established artists the possibility to experiment with new ideas, for example in connection with longer, more complex projects. The Study is the museum's outpost, which paves the way for new tendencies and directions.

THE STUDY signals the experimental character of projects and supports the significance of work-in-progress. It could be a space where the artist explores the way in which works are met by the public, where the public themselves are involved in some way or where the actual room itself could be the object to be explored. The space should not be considered to be an extension of the artist's studio, but a place where initial statements can be tested.

THE STUDY is the artists' own space, where both costs and administration are kept to a bare minimum. On the other hand, the function of the space and its accessibility is extremely flexible. All professional working artists can apply to exhibit in the study provided projects are of an experimental and innovative nature.

The next available opportunity to show work in The Study is 2012.
